The management team at Healthshield Staffing Associates represents a diverse set of skills based on our different professional backgrounds, all of which is in the health care and staffing industries. We share a passion for improving the quality of health care in our communities. In studying various health care businesses where we felt we could contribute to help improve the system, we discovered that there is a marked deficiency in quality service providers in the pharmacy placement industry.

We all believe the inevitable reform of the U.S. health care system will intensify the economic pressures already bearing down on all health care providers. In this new environment, we believe that providers that can offer higher-quality care with greater efficiency will survive. Each member is equally committed to the success of the company in carrying out this vision.

Management Team and Responsibilities

Dr. Leonard Makowka, Chairman – 16 years Former Chairman of Surgery at Cedars Sinai. Dr. Makowka currently serves on several advisory boards in the healthcare community. His role as Chairman of the Board for Healthshield Staffing Associates is integral to the success of the company. Nationally recognized, his reputation in the medical community provides us with a competitive advantage in the pharmacy-staffing marketplace.

Mr. Darin White, Chief Executive Officer – More than nine years of experience in the staffing industry, Mr. White has worked with several local and national staffing firms – including a position as COO for a Pharmacy staffing registry. He also brings 10 years experience in corporate finance including, Corporate Controller in the hospitality and telecommunications industry.

Mr. Rodney Pierce, President - Previously owned and operated a business development and private banking firm in Orange County, California. For more than 18 years Mr. Pierce has overseen the development, expansion, and redevelopment of both private and public companies, ranging from non-profit to investment banking and commercial insurance operations.

Mr. Mark Woodyard, Chief Operating Officer - Extensive “Big-5” experience serving the financial services and consumer product verticals. Mr. Woodyard has directed business development activities and provided direct oversight in the delivery of critical business intelligence solutions. This includes, CRM capabilities, organizational improvement and operational management to Fortune 500 companies in the credit card, mortgage, high-tech, automotive finance, and consumer products industries.

Mr. Michael McKinnon, Outside Counsel – Partner, Paul Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP. Mr. McKinnon brings 16 years of experience representing healthcare service companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, general healthcare contracting and regulatory compliance. Mr. McKinnon was formerly in-house counsel for a leading diagnostic imaging provider, Insight Health Services Corp., and national home healthcare provider, Apria Healthcare.
